From 7 to 11 September 2026, a delegation led by Rear Admiral Tet Lwin Tun, Commandant of the Myanmar Coast Guard, attended the High-Level Meeting of the 22nd Heads of Asian Coast Guard Agencies Meeting (HACGAM), hosted by the China Coast Guard in Hangzhou, People’s Republic of China.

The meeting was attended by representatives from 19 member countries of the Asian region, representatives from 2 observer countries, as well as representatives from the Regional Cooperation Agreement on Combating Piracy and Armed Robbery against Ships in Asia (ReCAAP) and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). During the meeting, participants discussed matters concerning cooperation among Coast Guard agencies and maritime law enforcement agencies to enhance regional maritime security.

The Heads of Asian Coast Guard Agencies Meeting (HACGAM) promotes cooperation among its member countries across five key operational pillars: Maritime Search and Rescue (SAR); Preventing and Controlling Unlawful Acts at Sea; Maritime Environmental Protection; Capacity Building; and Information Sharing and Joint Exercises.

Through cooperation under these five pillars, the meeting discussed measures to further enhance regional maritime safety and security, as well as the protection of the marine environment, while also promoting friendly relations and mutual trust among member countries.
