The Coast Guard was established on October 6, 2021, to protect Myanmar’s oceans and marine interests, blue economy businesses, prevent maritime security threats, offer maritime law enforcement and humanitarian help, and assist the Navy in times of need.  That day, the unit held its second anniversary meeting at the Coast Guard Headquarters in Thanlyin Township.
