On the morning of July 31, 2025, a delegation led by Mr. Suppakarn Thanatit, General Manager, Myanmar Asset, of PTTEP International Limited, visited the Coast Guard Headquarters. The delegation included a representative from Myanma Oil and Gas Enterprise (MOGE) and 16 representatives from the Yadana and Zawtika Offshore Oil and Gas Projects. Their purpose was to explain the status of PTTEP’s offshore projects.
Commodore Tet Lwin Tun, Commandant of the Myanmar Coast Guard, welcomed the delegation from PTTEP International Limited.
The Ministry of Energy and the Myanmar Oil and Gas Company, which is a joint venture in the oil exploration and production operations of the PTTEP International Company Limited, held a friendly and open discussion. The focus was on ensuring the smooth and safe operation of the Zawtika and Yadana Projects, as well as establishing protocols for sharing information and cooperating during difficulties, crises, and emergencies.
The Coast Guard explained its role as a social service-based maritime organization. Its mission is to protect the country’s maritime interests, carrying out maritime security, safety, search and rescue, humanitarian assistance, water pollution prevention and response, and the conservation of the marine environment. They also cooperate with international maritime organizations. Recognizing the importance of PTTEP’s natural gas drilling rigs to the national economy, the Coast Guard emphasized its responsibility to protect maritime interests. Therefore, they confirmed that mutual cooperation would be established, and the Coast Guard would implement the provisions of the Myanmar Coast Guard Law.
