The Commandant of the Myanmar Coast Guard received a visit from the Russian Military Attaché to Myanmar, Colonel Eduard N. Okladnikov, at the Coast Guard Headquarters

Rear Admiral Tat Lwin Tun, Commandant of the Myanmar Coast Guard, received a courtesy call from Colonel Eduard N. Okladnikov, the Russian Military Attaché to Myanmar, at Coast Guard Headquarters on the morning of 29 December 2025.

During the meeting, both sides noted that diplomatic relations between Myanmar and Russia have spanned over 77 years. Thanks to the visionary efforts of both nations’ leaders, the bilateral relationship and cooperation have continued to improve across multiple sectors.

The discussion focused on several key areas of cooperation between the Myanmar Coast Guard and the Russian Coast Guard, as well as the Office of the Russian Military Attaché to Myanmar, including:

Establishing a communication network for routine contact and engagement between the two services.

Collaborating on maritime security, maritime safety, maritime law enforcement, and search and rescue (SAR) operations.

Enhancing capacity-building through interactions such as workshops, seminars, dialogues, study tours, and training programs on technical and tactical matters.

Establishing official Points of Contact (POC) to facilitate mutual communication in any case. The meeting was held in a cordial and open manner, attended by the Commandant and four senior officers from the Myanmar Coast Guard.
