The Panama-flagged foreign cargo vessel “Glory Light,” carrying 18 crew members, was enroute from Kolkata, India, to Port Klang, Malaysia, when it experienced a main engine failure within Myanmar territorial waters, west of Maw Tin Point, on May 23, 2026.

Upon learning of the incident, the Myanmar Coast Guard’s fast patrol craft (P 313) approached the vessel on May 25 to establish contact and inquire about the situation. To assist the crew, the fast patrol craft (P 313) delivered essential provisions and transported three Chinese marine engineers to the vessel, to repair the main engine.

When the tugboat “MV. HUAYUE” arrived to tow the disabled “Glory Light” to Malaysia, the Myanmar Coast Guard effectively coordinated with relevant authorities and provided continuous monitoring and assistance, ensuring the vessel’s safe departure on June 28.
